ABOUT 

My name is Matt Murdoch and I am a Certified Coach who works with professionals in their careers and athletes, to help them find their joy in the journey.  Whether you are chasing a personal best, a promotion, looking to find your passion again, or starting something new, I coach people to help them discover what really motivates them and brings a smile to their face even for those 6am dark, rainy, and cold outdoor workouts.  I'm big on visioning and aligning your goals with your dreams, but I think finding joy in the present moment and journey is even more important.  

I am an amateur athlete who has completed 9 marathons including the Boston Marathon 2 times, with a personal best of 2 hrs and 57 mins.  I love running, yoga, cycling, kayaking, snowshoeing, hiking, and being in nature.  I am also passionate about all things wellness including sleep, nutrition, physical and mental exercise, and personal development.  I work with my clients to build a foundation to optimize their wellness so they can perform at their highest level in the boardroom or at a goal race, which often results in growth in other areas of their lives such as relationships.

I am a Certified Professional Co-active Coach (CPCC) and completed my training with the Co-Active Training Institute in 2020.  I also coach internal corporate clients in my current role as a Director of Program Management for a technology company.  As part of my passion for personal development, I have a degree in Computer Engineering, a Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng.), a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation, and have completed numerous other workshops and training courses.

I am married to my loving spouse Jennifer and we live in Vancouver, Canada.  We enjoy learning new things, cooking, relaxing, and going on adventures to some of our favorite places such as Galiano Island, Tofino, Cultus Lake, Penticton, Iceland, and Newfoundland.

1:1 Coaching sessions will be tailored to the interests of the person being coached and may include topics such as: 

 

Self-Awareness – Working with you to identify your core values, craft a life purpose statement, and recognize the inner strengths that you can use to create a more fulfilling life.  

 

Vision and Goal Setting – Supporting you in focusing your vision for personal and professional success and documenting a 3 to 5 year plan with specific goals for achieving that vision.  

 

Optimize Wellness – Exploring techniques for optimizing sleep, nutrition, movement and mindfulness, and resources for other wellness challenges that may hinder peak performance.  

 

Overcome Obstacles – Problem solving exercises to explore new perspectives and options for tackling barriers to success and identify new opportunities for growth and fulfillment.  

 

Coaching does not take the place of counselling but offers an opportunity to re-focus on yourself, explore new ideas, and refresh the plans and aspirations that make life exciting.
